I started off the day by ordering a d.iva cup. I hate pads but tamp.ons literally give me a panic attack. I think they are uncomfortable and refuse to wear them. I didn't think there were any other options out there but read a blog post by a woman who tried them and loved them. A month ago I would not have even thought about trying it. I would have lumped them into the same category as tam.pons. If it hadn't been for the fact that I thought syringes were useless and looked for another option, I never would have discovered the inst.ead cup which I love but think is slightly too expensive to use for the monthly thing. Since I loved the IC so much I thought I would go ahead and give the DC a shot. Let's see if it lives up to its hype.
I then wanted to make some lotion but realized I had used up a couple of ingredients I really needed. Of course, they would be the ingredients that I have no clue how to find locally so must order online. Of course, I would also order several more items than I actually need because it is just way too easy to point and click. Oh well, I should get my order in a few days and I will be able to make some lotion that doesn't make me itch all day. I want to make some more soap but I still have so much left from the last batch I should probably wait longer.... but I don't wanna.... *pouts*
A couple hours after ordering one of the DC, I started reading another mommy's blog and she mentioned mama cloths (cloth menstrual pads). I don't know why I never really thought of this option before. I mean, there has been a couple times over the years when I've completely run out of pads and decide to just use an old rag until I can run to the store. I waffled over getting a couple to try but in the end decided to go ahead. What if I don't like the DC? So I got a couple and while I really hope they won't be necessary for quite a few months, I'll at least have them on hand in case. (Of course as I'm placing the order I'm hoping that I'm jinxing myself into not needing them. Surely this will be like every other time I've ordered something right before it is no longer necessary.... surely...)
In the same post from the above blog, she mentioned a couple other eco-friendly options to use. One is unpaper paper towels and the other is family cloths. Again, I don't know why I haven't been already using unpaper towels. So I got a couple at the store when I went grocery shopping but I also ordered a few online. Which probably means I'll use them once and forget about them.
But the other option, I'm not so sure about. Again, in the past when I've suddenly realized I'm out of tp at 3am and need to go, I've used an old sock or rag and just thrown it away afterwards. I'm not sure I actually want to use FC on a regular basis but since I have no impulse control decided to get a few to try. And yes I know I can just cut up some old material and make some but I am
I think I'm finally done decimating my bank account when I get the mood to finally set up my sewing machine that I didn't want to have anything to do with earlier. So that requires a quick trip to Hellmart to get a cheap folding table and chair cause I hate using my small kitchen table for sewing. Fortunately, I went straight to the section I needed and was out in five minutes so did not end up spending twice what I went in there to spend.
Anyway, so tomorrow my goal will be to set up my sewing stuff and figure out where I left off. Maybe I'll finish that quilt I started three years ago.... maybe...

*this day went by very fast... I need a few more hours please!*
I love your thinking. For the same reason I bought the largest box of Tampons I could find yesterday! BTW I love the photos of your house! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteMost women I know who have bought the Diva Cup absolutely love it, so I bought one. However, I seem to be a freak of nature and had a lot of difficulty with it. Or maybe I'm just too stupid to figure out how to use it properly. :S
ReplyDeleteThanks! I didn't realize how much I would like having my own house until I was already in it.
ReplyDeletelol... I'm worried I'll be like that and can't make it work right but I'm also hoping since I spent money on it, that it will turn out not to be needed for awhile.
How did it work out?
ReplyDeleteWhich part?
DeleteThe Di.va cup I absolutely hate. It is difficult to remove which freaks me out but it did lead to me learning about the Inste.ad so.ftcups. Which I love. They are easy to insert and remove and while they are disposable and more expensive then the div.a cup, I find them the better option.
Cloth pads are okay but a nuisance to keep in place so I only use them when I'm at home.
I rarely use FC because I forget about them but they work for those emergency situations when I forgot to buy TP.
